Thursday morning

Bowling was fun, though I’m not really skilled at it.  Bowling does have this weird way of making you think you are good, though, if only you had a little more practice.  I think the mind is fooled by the positive reinforcement of an occasional strike.  I probably would become quite good at it if I spent time on it, but when it comes down to it, it’s rather a boring “sport.”

Afterwards, some coworkers and I visited a bar and had a few drinks, mine being rum-and-coke followed by copious amounts of ice water.  The bar catered to the older crowd (older than me to older than dirt) as well as country music fans.  Wednesday was karaoke night - filled mostly with ear drum breaking covers of ancient (classic?) country tunes (mostly sad songs that made us want to sleep) with a few good rocking numbers for good measure.

In the end, when most of the crowd was gone, I actually got up and did some karaoke, but only in group mode.  We did AC/DC’s “Big Balls,” Ray Charles’ “Hit The Road Jack,” and Kenny Rogers’ “The Gambler.”  I sound much better singing in my car with the music turned up loud.

Me and a buddy of mine used to go to the local bar’s karaoke night, usually crammed with country crap and ten different versions of Freebird, and do a duet to Metal Health by Quiet Riot, just to shake things up. It was mucho fun . . .
